Vyrnwy Academy is a large and spacious Victorian house, located on the banks of the River Vyrnwy, in the village of Llansantffraid, near the border between Powys and Shropshire. The beautiful Welsh countryside and many famous tourist attractions make for excellent opportunities to walk, ramble or simply visit and explore. With accessible amenities within walking distance, we feel this makes this the ideal setting for our students as they take their first steps towards independence.

The village is a small but active community with a Post Office, grocers shops, take-away, public houses, restaurants and hotels. There is an excellent Medical Centre, Community Centre and local football team (TNS).

The road network gives excellent access to major centres within the region and the national motorway network. Rail links are available to the stations at Welshpool or Gobowen and Shrewsbury, all of which are only a short drive away.

Llansantffraid is on a main bus route for Oswestry, Welshpool and Llanfyllin, which gives access to several swimming pools, sports facilities, cinemas, shops, FE Colleges and evening activities.

The local community is fully supportive of the Academy and our residents are encouraged to take their place within this community.
